Kettering Borough Council’s Environmental Health and Care services have been on ‘Germ Watch’ at Boughton House Open Days for Schools over the 10th and 11th May 2011.
Around 850 children primary school children attended the two day event which provided a unique opportunity for children to view and study all aspects of the operation of running Boughton House and Estate.
Through ‘Germ Watch’ staff were able to teach over 500 children along with adults the importance of hand washing by testing their skills using a special lotion and UV light box. After the excitement of seeing glowing hands the children were then taught how to reduce germs found through the light box. Every child who washed there hands was presented with a sticker and entry into a free prize draw to win vouchers for their school.
The two winning schools were St Mary’s C of E Primary School, Burton Latimer and Havelock Primary School, Kettering who each received £40 in Waterstones vouchers.
