On Sunday 7th August, Kettering Borough Council and RCI Europe will be organising this year’s fun run through Kettering town centre. The fun run is to help raise vital funding for Kettering General Hospital’s Charity Fund and Bowel Cancer UK.
Councillor Steve Bellamy, portfolio holder for Community and Culture says,
Every year the fun run gets bigger and bigger, attracting more and more people into the town. By linking in with Kettering by the Sea and the Summer Celebrations this will enable more people to take part in this years run.
Paul Carter, SVP Operations RCI Europe said: “This is a great opportunity for RCI Europe to put something back into the local community while raising funds for two very worthy charities. We have much to thank Kettering for, being the home of our European headquarters as well as home to many of our staff. RCI’s chosen charity for 2011 is Kettering General Hospital’s Centenary Wing and I’m pleased to say we’re already half way to our target goal of raising £5,000. I’m sure that monies raised from the Fun Run will take us over that target and, with that in mind, we’re asking everyone at RCI’s Kettering office to don their trainers to run, jog or walk their way towards raising those funds while having fun with family and friends along the way.”
The race will start at 12 noon at the Kettering Market Place and runners, walkers or strollers can do 1, 3 or 6 miles of the town centre.
